Hollis was a healthy, rambunctious 7 year old who was loved by everyone who met him. His vivacious smile and mischievous laugh drew people to him. He love to read and draw crazy characters with knives, guns and missle launchers! He loved sports, and was athletic and healthy until one day he wasn't.
Days after his 7th birthday he started complaining of headaches which quickly progressed to double vision, nausea, and fatigue. After a week of doctor visits, blood tests and a clean CT scan, an MRI on March 29th finally led doctors to discover a tumor on his brain stem called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG).
At the time there were limited treatment options. It is fatal at diagnosis and "go home to make memories" is what his family was told. He had 6 weeks of radiation and steroid treatment. Ultimately, they took him around the world in an effort to save his life, including 7 immunotherapy treatments in Cologne, Germany.
